French GIGN July 2021

What’s that fabric thing sticking betwenn their helmets and visors? Extra balaclava? Sweat towel?
Looks like a lot of the LE units are going from black or dark blue to green and grey. I read that the Belgians ditched their black unis because black is now a favorite garb of terrorists and they want to avoid any confusion between the bad guys and themselves.

Cover for the visor I’d guess. Greens and greys are quite popular in Europe.

Looks exactly like the German SEK you just posted. These units are losing their visual identity by adopting pretty much all the same gear.

True! It’s just like the military SOF all going Multicam… They are all becoming more and more generic, but I guess that is just adopting to the requirements of today’s special and/or CT operations. They’re using what works best.

Cool to actually see that Kalashnikov type SCAR in use in the real world.

AFAIK, this is the CZ Bren 2, not the SCAR with the Kalashnikov-type lower, like the ES 06020C, Set B. Looks damn close to a SCAR, though. I had the same idea, at first.
Same caliber/ammo, though, which is exactly the reason why GIGN acquired these - more penetration against body armor than 5.56, but not as heavy and cumbersome as a HK417.

I was going to ask, “What ever happened to the GIGN?” LOL!

Yes, see here for a better look.

I prefer this color to black or blue … it seems to me that these are the new uniforms … but real specialists on the forum will know how to answer :slightly_smiling_face:.
Now not much difference between the various special units in the world … much simpler for those who do kitbash figures :upside_down_face:

This is a figure I’d be interested in, the Bren is super sexy.

I’ve wanted a modern law enforcement figure with exotic gear for a while, I do like the HKCTRU that Soldier Story put out, but not sure I want a figure representing that mob on my shelf.
