Mountain Spetsnaz: СОБР Елбрус (SOBR Elbrus), 2011 (UCP Ver.)

Yet another Spetsnaz! Not FSB this time.

Formerly under the MVD, SOBR units (Quick Reaction Special Unit - sort of like regional SWAT teams) are now under the National Guard - or, Rosgvardia - umbrella. These paramilitary units have a distinct local character and their uniforms/kit vary incredibly from place to place. I know very little about the operator this kitbash is based on, but my best guess is he’s from SOBR “Elbrus”. Based in the region surrounding Mt. Elbrus - the tallest peak in Europe, located in the Caucasus - this unit would have to be prepared for combat in extreme conditions. This is reflected in the operator’s loadout: UCP fatigues, padding and climbing rope. It was a MISSION trying to source the pictures for this one.

(Some of the references may be from SOBR Rusich or Vympel).

I like his low-viz color scheme, and compact loadout. Your dogged research pays off, as defining all of these units is a real hand full.
I feel bad for these guys. They are pros, fighting an old, relentless threat, and while the draw-in to the “national guard” must bring them some perks, I wonder if their operations meet manipulation from above.

I had to come back, when I realized I’d forgotten to comment on the white tee. I appreciate that information, that simple concept hadn’t occurred to me.

Much appreciated! It’s certainly a complicated conflict (or series of conflicts…), in an incredibly important region, dating back hundreds of years. I can’t pretend to have more than a surface-level understanding of the various factors at play.

Glad you noticed the white tee - I had no idea what it was for for the longest time, until I stumbled across a poorly-translated (Google’s fault) comment on a BBICN post. I know it wouldn’t be as necessary with UCP, but I wanted to throw that little detail in there.

Another fantastic figure. I am a new member but I am highly impressed with the quality of kitbashed figures that are coming out of this site. So pleased I have found this place and so much to learn from you guys. I am also loving the fact that members are also leaving reference pictures and context to each figure that is being kitbashed. Great figure Canuck. Thanks for sharing. :+1:

Much appreciated, and welcome aboard! I hope to see some of your work soon :+1:
