Hey community. I’m attempting to dye a tan hat green and am curious about how I should go about this. In the past I’ve just used food coloring in water and let the item I’m dying steep for a day or two, but is there a better way to do this?
I usually use rit dye for such purposes, though I’ve also had good luck with acrylic paints mixed with thinner and a special fabric medium that prevents stiffness. From what I’ve heard most 1/6 scale fabric items are made of synthetic fabrics, so you’ll want to go for products from their dyemore line. Besides just the dye of your desired color, a fixative compound will help protect it your items from bleeding or fading, as well as deepening the color.
